The Office of the Local Youth Development Officer (LYDO) of Iloilo Province has unveiled plans for a ₱5-million, two-story Child and Youth Development Center (CYDC) that will soon be established in communities across the province.
The facility will serve a dual purpose. Its ground floor will function as a day care center for early childhood development programs, while the second floor will serve as an office and meeting space for Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials and youth organizations.
According to LYDO Head Shiela Mae Tuares, the project was conceptualized in response to the needs expressed by youth leaders during consultations conducted across municipalities and barangays in Iloilo.
"Sa pag libot naton sa mga probinsiya kag kabarangayan, naka-engage kita sa aton mga youth leaders kag naga hambal sila nga nami daad nga may ara man kami lugar, so this is the response of the Iloilo Provincial Government nga ma buligan ang mga kabataan nga ma plastar sila kag mas maka-focus sila kung paano mag plano kag maghimo sang mas maayo nga programa para sa kumunidad," she said.
Tuares said the center aims to provide young people with a dedicated space where they can meet, organize activities, and develop programs that will benefit their communities.
She also clarified that the Child and Youth Development Center (CYDC) is different from the Family and Youth Development Center (FYDC). The CYDC is designed to be established at the barangay level, while the FYDC serves municipalities.
