The release of more than 5,000 juvenile blue swimming crabs into the waters of Concepcion marks another step by the Iloilo Provincial Government to secure the future of coastal communities whose livelihood depends on the province's rich marine resources.
A total of 5,012 blue swimming crab (kasag) instars were released by the Iloilo Provincial Agriculture Office–Fisheries Division at Tago Island in Concepcion under the province's continuing Blue Swimming Crab Stock Enhancement Program.
The initiative seeks to replenish wild crab populations, improve future harvests, and preserve the ecological balance of Northern Iloilo's coastal waters.
Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. has consistently emphasized the importance of sustainable resource management as part of the provincial government's long-term strategy of balancing environmental protection with inclusive economic development.
The stock enhancement activity reflects this commitment by investing in the regeneration of marine resources that directly benefit fishing communities.
