Today, the PGENRO-Province of Iloilo, together with the Sulu Garden Foundation (SGF), DENR Region VI, the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), and the LGUs of Miag-ao and Igbaras, convened for a coordination meeting to advance initiatives that will help achieve the Province of Iloilo’s vision of becoming a Forest Province through sustainable, innovative, and evidence-based reforestation efforts.
The meeting laid the groundwork for the next steps in the collaboration, from identifying priority areas and defining strategic interventions to aligning initiatives with the Province of Iloilo’s Tanum Iloilo Towards a Forest Province Program and the MoRProGRes Re-Greening of Panay initiative through Seedballs and Drone Technology.
What makes this collaboration especially exciting is its recognition that effective reforestation requires both science and an understanding of on-the-ground realities. By integrating innovation with local knowledge, the partnership aims to deliver practical, sustainable, and lasting solutions.
